Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes and Infrastructure Faster

Ontario PCs are accelerating approvals to support jobs, attract investment and protect Ontario’s cultural heritage.

Building more homes and stronger communities starts with getting projects moving. That’s why the we’re proposing changes to make archaeological assessments faster, fairer and easier to navigate.

The proposed reforms would cut archaeological approval timelines by up to 80 per cent and increase sector capacity by 45 per cent, helping get homes, infrastructure and other job-creating projects built faster while protecting Ontario’s cultural heritage.

Lengthy approvals can hold up the projects our communities need. By cutting unnecessary red tape, we’re helping get shovels in the ground sooner, attracting investment and supporting good-paying Ontario jobs.

This work builds on progress already made, including eliminating a backlog of more than 3,000 archaeological reports and improving service delivery through the Heritage Framework Transformation initiative.

Working with Indigenous communities, municipalities, archaeologists and sector partners, our PC team will continue streamlining approvals while protecting Ontario’s archaeological heritage for future generations. Under Doug Ford’s leadership, we’re taking action to protect Ontario, build a more competitive and self-reliant economy, and get more homes and infrastructure built faster.
